The «Configure...» dialog box enables you to change the settings for choosing Lotto numbers. The «Number of possible choices» is the largest number in the “pool” of available numbers from which numbers will be chosen. The «Number of Choices» means how many numbers will be selected from this pool of numbers. (For example, values of 54 for «Number of Possible Choices» and 6 for «Number of Choices» mean that LottoMania will choose a total of 6 numbers from within the range of 1 to 54). Default settings are (not surprisingly) 54 and 6, respectively, which correspond to the New York State Lotto. The maximum allowed value for «Number of Possible Choices» is 1000, and the allowable values for «Number of Choices» is any positive integer smaller than whatever number you choose for the «Number of Possible Choices».
“With Replacement” signifies whether a given number can be used more than once in the group of numbers selected by the «New» command. While this is not current practice for state lottos (lottoes?), this can be a useful feature if you're using LottoMania to generate random numbers for some other purpose.
